The Life of a Blogger...?

Well, I've resisted for this long...but figured I've give this whole blogging/journal-ing thing a shot. After reading my best friend's blog about her trials and tribulations of the first trimester during her timely/untimely pregnancy, I became completely inspired. As I was reading her new found love of Odwalla bars and utter disdain for the smells of coffee and wine (two things I thought I'd never hear uttered from her mouth....coffee and wine are like, rights of passage in my book!)....I felt as though I was on this crazy preggo journey with her and could feel her concerns, fears, and excitement through her words.

Needless to say, I have not been able to stop thinking about her and this crazy journey she and her husband Chris are about to embark on. I mean, they're going to have a baby...one of life's greatest and most precious gifts. Thank God for giving us 9 months to prepare, however! I know they are feverishly reading as many baby books as possible and between bi-weekly doctor's visits, and blank stares into the diminished checking accounts....I can only imagine. But what am I talking about....we're next ;) At least I hope. Figures and toes crossed that some day James and I will be just as blessed with our own little one....but not for a few more years of course ;) Although, if Chris and Katie's situation has taught us anything, it's that you are never fully prepared for a child or even life for that matter. You're going to get what you get and you have to learn to roll with the punches. this phrase reminds me of a quote that I heard recently and fell in love with...something I need to remind myself of ...

"The quest for certainty blocks the search for meaning. Uncertainty is the very condition to impel man to unfold his powers" -- Erich Fromm.

Well said. I need to stop planning out my life and every little detail and just start living it....because it's all about the journey! I'm looking forward to what life brings our way.
